Marketside Packaged Broccoli Florets Listeria Recall at Walmart

Marketside brand packaged broccoli florets sold at Walmart stores in some states have been recalled for Listeria. This product is past its December 10 “use by” date, but symptoms of Listeria can take as long as 70 days to develop. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage or stillbirth.

The Texas Department of Health and Human Services discovered the contamination through random product sampling.

On December 27, 2024, Braga Fresh of Soledad, CA issued a recall for a single lot of washed and ready-to-eat broccoli florets. The recall includes:

  • Marketside Broccoli Florets
  • 12 oz plastic bags
  • UPC code 6 81131 32884 5 
  • Lot Code: BFFG327A6
  • Best if used by date Dec 10, 2024
  • Sold at Walmart stores in Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Symptoms of a Listeria Infection

Symptoms of a Listeria infection, called listeriosis, usually appear within 24 hours of exposure but can sometimes take as long as 70 days to develop. They include:

  • High fever
  • Severe headache
  • Stiff neck
  • Muscle stiffness
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea

Pregnant women can suffer a miscarriage or stillbirth even if they only experience mild flu-like symptoms.
