How a Semi-Truck Accident Lawyer Can Help

Trucking accidents require an in-depth investigation to determine exactly what happened and who is responsible. These cases often involve driver negligence, improper vehicle maintenance, and/or violations of federal trucking regulations. An experienced semi-truck accident lawyer will analyze all aspects of the crash, uncover evidence, and fight to hold wrongdoers accountable. Depending on the circumstances, liability could fall on one or more of the following parties:

  • The Truck Driver – If the driver was distracted, fatigued, impaired, or acting recklessly, they may be responsible for the crash. Truck drivers are required to follow strict safety regulations, and violations can put others at risk.
  • The Trucking CompanyTrucking companies are responsible for making sure their drivers are qualified and their trucks are safe to be on the road. If they cut corners on training, maintenance, or safety regulations, they could be held accountable when accidents happen.
  • The Truck or Equipment Manufacturer – If the crash was caused by a mechanical failure, such as faulty brakes, steering components, tires, or lights, the manufacturer of the defective part or the truck itself may be held accountable.
  • The Service or Maintenance Provider – Maintenance shops are responsible for properly servicing trucks and identifying worn or unsafe vehicle parts. If a maintenance provider fails to repair or replace a defective part, they may be held liable for negligence.
  • Cargo Loaders – Improperly loaded or unsecured cargo can cause a truck to become unstable, shift unexpectedly, or tip over, leading to serious accidents. The party responsible for loading the truck may be held accountable if improper loading contributed to the crash.
