Previous Recall, Outbreak
In January, the Mount Olive, NJ company’s charcuterie products, sold at Sam’s Club and Costco, were recalled in connection with a multistate Salmonella outbreak.
As part of its outbreak investigation, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service collected Fratelli Beretta charcuterie products for testing. Investigators noticed that one of them that tested positive for Salmonella was also under-processed which could have been the cause of the bacterial contamination.
The outbreak includes at least 47 illnesses from 22 states. Ten people have been hospitalized.
