Prepackaged Sandwich Listeria Recall

Prepackaged sandwiches sold in vending machines, and at convenience stores and food service locations have been recalled or Listeria. The recalled sandwiches were sold under the Nutisystem, Classic Delight, and Wakefield brand names. Consumers who have purchased these sandwiches should not eat them as Listeria can cause severe illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.

On June 10, Classic Delight of St. Mary’s, OH issued a Listeria recall for the prepacked sandwiches. It includes 25 types of sandwiches including ham and cheese subs, egg, cheese breakfast sandwiches, cheeseburgers and chili dogs. The products were shipped to distributors in Arkansas, California, Maryland, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas and sold between May 11, 2023 and June 6, 2024.

Symptoms of a Listeria Infcetion

Symptoms of a Listeria infection usually develop within 24 hours of expsosure, but can sometimes take as long as 70 days to develop. They include:

  • High fever
  • Severe headache
  • Stiff neck, other muscle stiffness
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Confusion, loss of conciousnees
