Foppen Smoked Salmon Listeria Recall

Foppen smoked salmon has been recalled for Listeria. The recalled product was sold at Kroger and Payless stores. Consumers who have purchased it should not eat it as Listeria causes severe illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.

After it received notification that product tests were positive for Listeria, Foppen Seafood issued the recall on June 22. The Foppen smoked salmon recall includes:

  • Foppen Smoked Norwegian Salmon Slices – Toast sized
    UPC: 8 40137 10000 2
  • LOT 412 – in the clear plastic cut out window on the front of the package
  • 8.1 oz packages
  • Sold at Kroger and Payless stores in AL, AR, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MI, MO, MS, OH, SC, TN, TX, and WV.

Listeria Symptoms

Symptoms of a Listeria infection usually develop within 24 hours of exposure but can sometimes take as long as 72 days to appear. They include:

  • Severe headache
  • Stiff neck
  • Muscle aches
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Confusion
  • Loss of balance
  • Convulsions
