New Mexico State Fair Petting Zoo Cryptosporidium Outbreak

A Cryptosporidium outbreak at the New Mexico State Fair petting zoo has sickened 18 people. Three of the cases have been confirmed through laboratory testing, fifteen are suspected. They are from all across the state.

Cryptosporidium is a parasite that causes intestinal illness. Symptoms of an infection include vomiting, abdominal cramps, fatigue, and watery diarrhea which develop two to 14 days of exposure.
