Lipari ground cumin has been recalled for Salmonella. The recalled spice was sold in clear, plastic tubs marked “Product of India” and “Distributed by Lipari Foods” on the label.

The recalled cumin has the following product identification:

  • Sold in 6-oz clear, plastic tubs
  • Lot number 220914601
  • UPC 094776212620
  • Best by date – 09/2024

The recalled product was distributed to retail stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Symptoms of a Salmonella Infection

Symptoms of a Salmonella infection usually develop within six to 72 hours of exposure and include fever, diarrhea that can be bloody, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain or cramping. Sometimes Salmonella infections can migrate to the bloodstream producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections endocarditis and arthritis.
