A Legionnaires’ disease outbreak at La Quinta Inn & Suites in Walla Walla, WA includes at least three people. People get Legionanires’ disease when they inhale water vapor contaminated with Legionella bacteria. It is not transmitted from person to person.
Water samples collected from the hotel were positive for Legionella, health officials said. They are urging anyone who stayed at the hotel during the first two weeks of July and has symptoms including fever, headache, cough, muscle aches, and shortness of breath to see a doctor and mention an exposure to Legionella.
