Sunrise Growers Inc., a subsidiary of Minneapolis-based SunOpta Inc., has issued a Listeria recall for frozen fruit sold under store brand names at Whole Foods, ALDI, Target, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, and other stores. The store brands of frozen fruit under recall are 365, Best Choice, Great Value, Good & Gather, and Trader Joe’s.
The recall was triggered by a SunOpta recall for frozen pineapple that the company received from a third-party supplier.
Listeria Symptoms
Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should not eat them as Listeria can cause severe illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.
Symptoms of a Listeria infection include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, other muscle stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women can suffer miscarriages or stillbirths even if they only have minor symptoms.
Previous Listeria Recall
In 2017, Sunrise Growers issued a Listeria recall for frozen organic dark sweet pitted cherry products sold at Walmart stores under the brand name Great Value.
