Artificial tears sold under the brand names EzriCare and Delsam Pharma are recalled after being linked to a VIM‐GES‐CRPA outbreak that includes several patients with permanent vision loss and one fatality. Most of the cases occurred in healthcare settings where Verona Integron‐mediated Metallo‐β‐lactamase (VIM)‐ and Guiana‐Extended Spectrum‐β‐Lactamase (GES)‐producing carbapenem‐resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (VIM‐GES‐CRPA), an antibiotic-resistant bacteria, is often spread.
