A sandwich wrap Listeria recall includes Rachael’s, Atlantis, and All Town brands sold at retail locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island. The Italian Style, Chicken Caesar, Turkey Club, and Buffalo Style wraps were produced from July 15, 2022, through July 20, 2022.
Consumers who have purchased these items should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage or stillbirth.
On July 30, Rachael’s Food Corporation of Chicopee, MA issued a recall for 2,246 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry wraps that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall was issued after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS) found Listeria in a product sample during a follow-up visit after it had found Listeria in a product during routine sampling.
The company said that it was not aware of any illnesses at the time of the recall. However, symptoms of listeriosis, which usually develop within one to 14 days of exposure, can take as long as 70 days to develop. They include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, other muscle stiffness, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions
