On February 11, Royal Ice Cream Company, Inc. of Manchester, CT announced it was expanding its Listeria recall to include all products manufactured at the facility. The recall now includes all pints, cakes, sandwiches, specialty items and 2.5 and 3-gallon tubs.

The recalled products, listed below, were sold under the brand names Batch, Royal, Ronny Brook, New Orleans, Maple Valley, Art Cream, Sweet Scoops, Gelato Fiasco, Biggy Iggy’s, Munson, Giffords, Chewy Louie, Snow Which, and Newport Creamery.
Big Y, Hannaford, Market Basket, Roche Bros., Stop & Shop, and Whole Foods were among the stores that carried the recalled ice cream products sold at stores in Connecticut, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Texas, and Vermont.

Ice Cream Recalled for Listeria Sold at Whole Foods
According to the Gelato Fiasco website, these products are sold at Whole Foods stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. The recall includes all flavors and expiration dates. Detailed information is not posted on the Whole Foods website.
Royal Ice Cream Expands Listeria Recall
Earlier this month, Royal Ice Cream issued a Listeria recall for three flavors of Batch ice cream. 
That recall was issued after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found Listeria on processing equipment at the company’s Manchester plant. That is the same explanation given for this expansion of the recall.
The expanded recall includes all ice cream products made at the company’s Manchester facility. They are marked with the plant number “CT121” or “CT#121”. The recall includes:
- Art Cream, all pint flavors
- Batch brand pints, all flavors
- Biggy Iggy’s Ice Cream Sandwiches
- Chewy Louie Ice Cream Sandwiches
- Doris Italian Markets- Spumoni wedge, Spumoni Half Gallon, Tartufo, Cannoli, Spumoni pie Slices sold in FL
- Dough Wich 4 oz Cookie Dough sandwich Vanilla, Chocolate and French Vanilla sold in CT
- Gelato Fiasco, all pint flavors
- Giffords Ice Cream Sandwiches, all flavors
- Royal Ice Cream Brand half gallons, pints, cakes, all specialties
- Ronny Brook ice cream, all flavor pints and 3-gallon tubs
- Maple Valley ice cream, all flavor pints
- Munson Chip Wich Ice Cream Sandwiches
- New Orleans ice cream, all flavor pints and 2.5-gallon tubs

At the time of the recall, the company stated that it was not aware of any illnesses associated with the product. However, it’s important to note that symptoms of a Listeria infection can take as long as 70 days to develop.
Consumers who have eaten the recalled ice cream should monitor themselves for symptoms of a Listeria infection. These symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, other muscle stiffness, nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.
