Murphy beds sold at Amazon, AllModern, Cymax, Overstock, Walmart, and Wayfair, have been recalled after dozens of injuries were reported. Consumers who have purchased these beds should contact Cyme Tech, a Canadian manufacturer.
On September 12, Cyme Tech issued the recall after receiving 146 reports of the beds falling or breaking. At that time, the malfunctioning beds caused 62 injuries including broken bones, lacerations, concussions, and bruises, according to to recall information posted on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.
The full size and queen size recalled Murphys beds were sold online between February 2014 – May 2022 for $1,200 to $1,500 under the brand names Ivy Bronx, Orren Ellis, Stellar Home Furniture, and Wade Logan. The beds were sold in five colors: white, rustic gray, espresso, cinnamon, and tuxedo.
The models included in the recall are:
- Low Profile Murphy wall bed part number S214 (Double Bed, Doors Installed Vertically),
- Low Profile Murphy wall bed parts number S215 (Queen Bed, Doors Installed Vertically)
- Low Profile Murphy wall bed S234 (Double Bed, Doors Installed Horizontally)
- Low Profile Murphy wall bed S235 (Queen Bed, Doors Installed Horizontally)
