Neighbors rescued a husband and wife who were inside the house at the time of the explosion. Bob and Colleen Van Wagner were taken to Bronson South Haven Hospital with serious injuries. Sadly, Colleen died on Wednesday morning.
Fire crews believe a propane gas leak caused the explosion, although the investigation could take months to finalize. A neighbor who helped rescue the couple from the scene told WWMT News, “right away you can tell it was gas explosion. You can feel the percussion.”
