Lafayette Apartment Explosion Seriously Injures One, Natural Gas Suspected

An apartment explosion in Lafayette, Ind. seriously injured a 24-year-old woman on Monday. Investigators suspect the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 50 Cadillac Court to find a fire within a unit in Waterford Apartments. Aleksandra Balac (24) sustained serious thermal burn injuries and was taken to an Indianapolis hospital.

Fire investigators are looking into the cause with the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office.
