Boat Explosion on Lake of the Ozarks Injures Six People

A boat explosion on Lake of the Ozarks injured six people, including three children, on Tuesday afternoon. The explosion happened while the boat was docked in the Osage Arm of the lake. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a mechanical problem caused the fuel-related fire. Three adults including James Hohenstein (47), Kari Hoenstein (46), and Brad Vanwinkle (36), were seriously injured. A 16-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy also suffered serious injuries. A 2-year-old boy was hospitalized with minor injuries. The passengers were taken to local hospitals, including Lake Regional Hospital and University Hospital. All passengers aboard the 26-foot Sea Ray Sundeck boat were from Elk Horn or Gretna, Neb.
