Triangle Tube Gas Boiler Recall for CO Risk, 1 Death Reported

Triangle Tube has issued a recall for Prestige wall-hung condensing gas boilers for carbon monoxide poisoning hazard. One person has died. The fatality occurred in 2016 following a repair. The firm has also received two reports of the vent tube adapter separating from the boiler.

The recall includes 22 Prestige Solo and Prestige Excellence models designed for residential and light commercial use that were manufactured between November 2011 and October 2019. They are encased in a white, metal box with the name “Prestige” on the front panel and on the cardboard packing box. The recalled models were sold nationwide to wholesale distributors and installed by independent contractors for between $3,400 and $9,700.

Consumers who have this brand of boiler should carefully check the recall information posted on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website (link above.) The company is repairing the defects and advises consumers to make sure they have working carbon monoxide detectors on each floor of their homes and outside each sleeping area. The company will provide these to customers who do not have them.
