Two Brooklyn Park residents were charged with violating dangerous dog requirements after their pit bull brutally attacked a woman and her German Shepherd.
Dondre Patterson (27) and Dami Manuel-Moore (23) were both charged with harm caused by a dog, failing to register a dangerous dog, and failing to neuter a dangerous dog in Hennepin County District Court on Thursday. Patterson told police that they use the pit bull for breeding and do not intend to sterilize, in what the charges describe as a “blatant disregard for the law and safety concerns for their neighbors.”
The attack happened on March 7th just before 1:30 PM on the 8000 block of Morgan Avenue North in Brooklyn Park. The victim was walking her German Shepherd when the pit bull attacked them unprovoked. A witness told the police that he believed the pit bull would have killed the woman and her dog if he had not intervened.
The woman and her dog both suffered serious injuries. The woman received 10 staples to the crown of her head, bruising on her left leg and hand, eight stitches to her right hand, a calf puncture, and a graze on her ankle. Her dog’s right ear had to be reattached in addition to receiving a number of stitches and lacerations.
