A Spokane man suffered critical burn injuries after his RV burst into flames on Saturday night. Mario Eblacas had taken his RV in for mechanical work before arriving home to his spot on 2nd Ave. and Oak St. in the Browne’s Addition neighborhood. Soon after, the engine of his RV exploded and the entire vehicle became engulfed in flames. Firefighters arrived at the scene around 7:30 P.M. and worked to rescue Eblacas, who was trapped inside the RV. Eblacas suffered life-threatening burn injuries over the entirety of his body. Sadly, his dog died in the fire.

Paramedics took Eblacas to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. He was then transferred to the Harborview Medical Center burn unit in Seattle. The Spokane Fire Department says the fire was caused by a mechanical issue that took place while it was being serviced.
Friends and neighbors set-up a Go Fund Me page to help support Eblacas. Micah Martin, a neighbor at the apartment across the street, described Eblacas as a “spiritual individual whose dog meant the world to him.”
