A house explosion in Parma Heights, OH killed one person on Saturday. At about 1:15 P.M., crews responded to reports of a house explosion on the 6300-block of Malmo Place. The blast completely leveled the house. Authorities found a body in the rubble. The Parma Fire Department had said that they were looking for an elderly man who may have been home alone when his house exploded.
Neighbor Caitlin George told Cleveland 19 News that she was standing in her driveway at the time of the blast: “I’m standing in the driveway and it’s raining ash everywhere and I look over and there’s smoke everywhere, just pure black smoke.”

Columbia Gas cut off gas to the neighborhood on Saturday. Investigators say the explosion may have been caused by a gas leak.
