Salmonella lawyers are investigating a growing outbreak linked to JBS Tolleson ground beef products. When the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced the ground beef Salmonella outbreak on October 4, 2018, it included 57 people in 16 states. Now, 120 people in 22 states are sick and Salmonella lawyers are asking questions.
The outbreak triggered a massive ground beef recall that includes ground beef and ground chuck sold as burgers and in chubs of various sizes.
Ground Beef Salmonella Recall
JBS Tolleson Inc. of Tolleson, Arizona recalled 6.5 million pounds of beef products on October 4, 2018.
Because illnesses are still being reported, health officials are concerned that some consumers may have the recalled products in their freezers. Consumers who do still have these products on hand should not eat them.
The recalled products were packaged on various dates between July 26, 2018, to Sept. 7, 2018, and sold under a variety of brand names. They have the establishment number “EST. 267” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
Some of the brand names include:
- Cedar River Farms Natural Beef
- Comnor Perfect Choice
- Gourmet Burger
- Grass Run Farms Natural Beef
- JBS Generic
- Showcase
- Showcase/Walmart
See the complete list of recalled beef products on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) website.

Ninety-three percent of case-patients interviewed by health officials reported eating ground beef at home before they became ill. About 35 percent of them became so sick they were hospitalized.
Symptoms of a Salmonella infection include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever. Consumers who have eaten the recalled beef and develop symptoms of Salmonella infection should see a doctor.
