A father and son were injured when a snowmobile ran into them as they were building an icehouse on Chisago Lake. The son was critically injured, with broken legs, head trauma (traumatic brain injury), and other injuries. Our thoughts are with the family.
A GoFundMe account set up for young Alan Jr. raised $13,263 on the first day.
The snowmobile driver refused a breath test at the scene. He was promptly arrested. The Lakes Area Police Department got a search warrant and obtained blood samples to determine his blood alcohol level. The driver has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide (updated information), criminal vehicular operation causing great bodily harm under the influence of alcohol, and one count of driving while under the influence of alcohol (DWI).
More needs to be done to prevent these kinds of vehicular injuries. DUI drivers need to be kept off the road and the ice.
This tragic snowmobile crash happened on Chisago Lake, which is in Chisago City, Minnesota.
