Semi-Truck Crash Near Deer River, MN Results in Two Deaths

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a semi-truck heading south, in snowy and icy conditions, on Highway 46 near Deer River, MN hit two vehicles traveling in the opposite direction. The semi first sideswiped a Ford pickup and then crashed head-on into a Chevy Impala.

Both the driver, 34 year-old Steven Mark Kubiszewski, and the passenger, 57 year-old Arthur Mark Kubiszewski, of the Impala suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

The driver and passenger of the pickup truck, and the driver of the semi-truck were not injured.

As the number of semi-trucks on the road has increased, so too have fatal accidents.  Attorneys at Pritzker Hageman have brought a number of cases to trial recently, including one which led to $3.1 million for the family of a woman who was injured and her teenage son killed when their car collided with a jackknifed tractor-trailer rig on a snowy highway in northern Michigan. And another which led to $1.95 million for the family members of a young man who was killed when he collided with a jackknifed tractor-trailer on an icy highway in southern Minnesota.
