Salmonella Illnesses
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the FDA are investigating five Salmonella illnesses that may be linked to these recalled products. Several of the people interviewed reported eating cake mix before developing symptoms of a Salmonella infection which include nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea and sometimes fever. Some of them may have consumed the products unbaked.
Health officials remind consumers not to consume any raw batter as uncooked eggs and flour can carry bacteria that cause illness.
