Four people in Minnesota and Wisconsin are part of a Salmonella outbreak linked to breaded chicken products sold at Ruby’s Pantry pop up stores, according to the Minnesota Department of Health. One person in Minnesota and three people in Wisconsin became ill after consuming the products which appear to be fully cooked but are actually raw.
The products were sold at Ruby’s Pantry pop up locations without cooking instructions or labels stating that the product was raw.
Salmonella infections result from eating or drinking food or beverages that are contaminated with fecal matter from infected people or animals. Symptoms of a Salmonella infection, which usually develop within 72 hours of exposure and last about a week, include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, fever, and vomiting. Sometimes, if the infection travels from the intestines to the bloodstream a more serious infection that requires hospital care can occur.
