Navarro County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene, in the 500 block of Texas 31 in Dawson, around 11 p.m. When they arrived, they found the walls of the house had collapsed and a small fire was burning. The force of the blast had blown out windows of a neighboring church.
First responders carefully picked through the debris to rescue all five people. The home used propane as a fuel source. The state Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the blast.

Neighbors said the couple that owned the home had complained of a gas smell and had hired a plumber to fix it. If you smell gas in your house and have a propane tank, get out and contact the company that services your tank. This is an emergency situation, and someone should be sent immediately to determine whether there is a leak and, if so, to fix it.
Propane is highly combustible, and any spark can ignite an explosion.
As of the writing of this post, the couple who own the house are in stable condition; however, they have several broken bones, according to news reports. Neighbors say it is a miracle they are alive.
