A 58-year-old special education teacher was killed in a crash with a semi tractor trailer on Highway 52. The accident happened at 8:30 am on February 8, 2016.
The woman was killed when her 2014 Ford SUV crossed the center line and collided with the trailer portion of the semi truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi truck and one passenger were not injured.
Any accident on the roads is devastating. But accidents between passenger vehicles and semi tractor trailers almost always result in serious injury or death to those in the passenger cars. That’s why the semi truck industry is heavily regulated by the federal government. The trucking company and its insurance carriers are investigating the accident and are trying to protect the trucking company’s interests.
