The accident below is very similar to a case we settled. A truck driver grew impatient when a line of motorcyclists were waiting to turn left, so the trucker tried to pass them on the left and clipped one of the cyclists as he was turning. To make matters worse, the trucker just kept on going–a hit and run. Some of the other cyclists chased her down and called the state patrol.
Attorney Eric Hageman represented the man who was injured. His leg was crushed and several surgeries could not save it. He and his wife called our law firm and hired Eric after the amputation.
A 16-year-old girl was seriously injured in a semi and motorcycle accident on Highway 14 near Owatonna, Minnesota on May 12, 2016 about 3:21 p.m. The Harley Davidson motorcycle was part of a funeral procession for Ryan Cowell, who died on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Both vehicles were moving eastbound, when approaching slower traffic. The motorcycle went down on the road near mile marker 178 to avoid contact with the Freightliner tractor trailer.
Chad R. Hein, 48, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, was injured in the crash, as was the teenager, who lives in Owatonna. The teen was taken to Rochester Mayo hospital by medical helicopter. The driver of the semi, a 64-year-old from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was not injured.
According to Facebook posts, the semi was trying to pass the funeral procession when the accident occurred. Owatonna Fire, Mayo One, and Gold Cross Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
