A Minnesota man has died after being hit by a car while he was checking the mail in front of his home. The accident happened on 119th Avenue and Radisson in Blaine on May 5, 2016 at about 9:21 p.m. The person who was driving fled the scene.
Danilo Morazan, 39, was tragically killed at the scene. He and his wife had just moved into their home three weeks ago. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Mr. Morazan’s family.
Blaine police later arrested 27-year-old Adam Joseph Rodman, who lives in the same neighborhood, for hit and run. Police say that alcohol may have played a part in the accident. Rodman is on probation for an incident that happened in 2014. According to news reports, Rodman was driving 70 mph at the time of the crash. The speed limit on that road is 30 mph.
Neighbors held a community meeting about the dangers of that particular street. Speeding drivers going through that neighborhood on 119th Avenue have caused a lot of damage in the past few years. Neighbors say that people regularly drive 40 to 50 mph on that street, especially at night.
