A Pontiac Grand Am was traveling southbound on Highway 21, turning eastbound onto Highway 21 at Highway 99. A semi truck was traveling westbound on Highway 21/99. The vehicles collided.

Rice County Sheriff Office assisted.
The road was wet at the time of the crash. Under the law, commercial truck drivers have to use extra care to prevent accidents. One aspect of this is driving a safe speed for the road conditions.
“Driving too fast for conditions is defined as traveling at a speed that is greater than a reasonable standard for safe driving. Examples of conditions where drivers may find themselves driving too fast include: wet roadways (rain, snow, or ice), reduced visibility (fog), uneven roads, construction zones, curves, intersections, gravel roads, and heavy traffic” (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration).
This fatal crash happened on December 8, 2016. Our thoughts are with the family.
