A teenager and her father were killed in a semi accident at 11:35 a.m. on February 28, 2016 at the intersection of Highway 60 and Apache County Road 3148. The van, which was driven by the young woman, pulled out from 3148 when it was broadsided by the eastbound semi that was carrying copperplate.
The student council at the high school is organizing a fundraiser for the family. A Go Fund Me account has been established to help the family.
There may be many factors that played into this tragic accident, including:
- A truck driver who was not paying attention
- A truck that was not properly maintained
- A truck driver who violated the hours of service requirements
