Tragically, a 49-year-old woman was killed when a truck rear ended her car. She was on her way to work this morning when she was hit. Our thoughts are with the family.
The Truck Driver Fell Asleep
The truck driver told police that he fell asleep before the crash. He ended a life and was not hurt in the accident.
The driver of the car was stopped at a red light on Route 65 in Ambridge, PA, at around 7 a.m. when she was hit from behind by the semi. She was on her way to Rivers Casino, where she worked, according to news reports.
Is the Truck Company Responsible for The Wrongful Death?
Possibly. In most cases, the owner of a commercial truck is responsible for a wrongful death caused by the truck; however, rental truck liability can be tricky. Here are a few questions that need answers:
- Was the truck being leased or rented?
- Did the truck driver have a relationship with the company that owed the truck (employee, independent contractor, etc.)?
- What was being hauled and who owned it?
