Whole Foods Market is recalling packaged raw macadamia nuts sold at Whole Foods Market, Greenlife Grocery, and Harry’s Farmers Market stores in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The nuts may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.
What Nuts Were Recalled?
The recalled nuts are labeled as “Whole Foods Market Raw Macadamia Nuts” and was packaged in 5.6 oz. plastic tubs. The sell-by dates are:
- 4/22/15
- 5/4/15 and
- 5/6/15.
All of the products have the following UPC code: 7-23055-21415-3.
How Was the Salmonella Detected?
Samples of the raw macadamia nuts were tested by an FDA-contracted laboratory. Some of these samples tested positive for Salmonella. This was routine testing done to prevent illness. It worked in this case.
If you have raw macadamia nuts, check to make sure they are not part of the recall.

No illnesses have been reported to date.
