Read this update: La Terra Fina is expanding the spinach dip recall below to include three products that were manufactured on the same production equipment on the same day as the Organic Spinach Dip. See a list of all recalled products below.
La Terra Fina has issued these recalls because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an extremely dangerous pathogen that is often fatal.
The recall involves products available in Bay Area Costco stores. The Organic Spinach Dip was made with spinach from a supplier that was later recalled for possible Listeria contamination. Spinach from this supplier was used be several companies, many of which have recalled products.
There have been no reports of illness, but the incubation period can be as long as 70 days. Both the supplier and La Terra Fina would most likely be legally responsible for any illnesses (called listeriosis) caused by this product.
