A fatal accident in California highlights that preliminary police reports can have errors. A teenager and her brother were in a crosswalk when she was run over by the rear wheels of a semi truck and killed. The police says she was distracted by talking on her cell phone when she entered the crosswalk, but her family says her phone rang after she had started crossing and that she was crossing with the signal.
The teenager died instantly.
“I handled a wrongful death case very similar to this one where the police report stated the accident victim was at fault. However, the semi truck driver’s log book and deposition provided evidence that the truck driver was at fault,” said Fred Pritzker, an attorney who represents clients in personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits against truck drivers and trucking companies.
In truck accident wrongful death cases, our law firm generally hires accident reconstruction experts to recreate the accident. We then hire an animation specialist to bring the accident reconstruction to life. This kind of evidence helps persuade insurance company lawyers that the family has a good case, and it provides the family with answers as to the cause of the accident.
