Child Passenger Safety Promoted by CDC

Hundreds of children die each year in traffic accidents.  Our attorneys are joining with the CDC to promote child passenger safety.

As part of our child safety campaign, we would like to encourage all drivers to make sure their young passengers are using age- and size-appropriate child restraints (car seats, booster seats, and seat belts).  Also, children under 12 should always be in the back seat. One reason for this is air bags, which have killed children when deployed.

You should only use new car safety seats for your children because if there was a recall (and there are) you wouldn’t have any way of knowing. Also, you need to have the instructions that came with the seat to install and use it correctly. We understand that this is not always possible. There are groups (churches, hospitals, etc.) that provide free or reduced-cost car seats. You can probably find that information at your local library, police station or hospital.

If your community has a free safety seat check, go and make sure you are using yours correctly. If your local police department is doing this, your child may enjoy the experience.

Our child safety lawyers represent children in personal injury lawsuits against negligent drivers, bus and truck companies, auto repair companies, car manufacturers and others. You can contact attorney Fred Pritzker and his team of lawyers for a free case evaluation here.
