Subway Food Poisoning Outbreaks

  • 2012 – About 72 people got norovirus after eating at a Subway Restaurant in Hartford, Indiana. The investigation found that employees sick with the norovirus continued to work even though they had diarrhea and were vomiting, both symptoms of the illness.
  • 2010 – About 48 people in Illinois were diagnosed with Salmonella infections after eating at certain Subway Restaurant locations in the state. A specific food source was not found.
  • 2010 – About 100 people were diagnosed with Shigella food poisoning (shigellosis) after eating at the Subway Restaurant in Lombard, Illinois (DuPage County). The source of the outbreak was sprouts.
