Pritzker Hageman attorneys have filed lawsuits for hip failure patients against Stryker Orthopaedics, Inc. (aka Howmedica Osteonics Co.). Our clients had Stryker Rejuvenate or ABGII hip implants that allegedly failed due chromium and cobalt poisoning (metallosis). These clients have had or are scheduled to have hip replacement revision surgery.
Fred and our team of Stryker hip recall lawyers are now warning all patients with these implants that they are at risk for hip failure, even if they are not experiencing pain, swelling or any other symptoms.
“New information released by Stryker confirms what we suspected, that even patients who are not experiencing pain, swelling or any symptoms of metallosis are at risk and need to contact their surgeon,” said Fred Pritzker, whose product safety team recently won over $40,000,000.00 for clients injured by another medical product. Patients need to know that they have the legal right to sue Stryker for compensation. This serves two purposes: 1) to provide patients with compensation for pain and suffering, emotional distress and financial losses and 2) to send a message to Stryker and other medical device companies that selling unsafe products is not acceptable. All Stryker hip patients can contact Fred for a free consultation here.
In June of 2012, Stryker Orthopaedics, Inc. recalled its Rejuvenate and ABG II modular-neck hip stems due to possible fretting and corrosion, which can lead to metallosis (metal poisoning from chromium and cobalt). Stryker’s own product information states that this can cause adverse local tissue reactions, as well as possible pain and/or swelling at or around the hip. Reported adverse events associated with Stryker Rejuvenate and ABGII modular-neck hip stems include the following: metallosis (chromium and/or cobalt), necrosis (death) of the bone or soft tissue issue, osteolysis, formation of pseudotumors, infection, loosening of the hip implant, swelling, pain.
