Attorney Fred Pritzker and his Bad Bug Law Team are investigating a multi-state outbreak of Listeria food poisoning linked to eating Les Frères cheese made by Crave Brothers Farmstead Classics Cheese, a Wisconsin producer. Two people in Minnesota became ill in early June. Both were hospitalized; one of them died. People in at least 3 other states have also been sickened.
These victims trusted Crave Brothers to sell safe cheese, but the company sold cheese with a dangerous pathogen to unsuspecting customers. “Victims and families can contact me for a free consultation to talk about their cases,” said Fred, who has won many personal injury and wrongful death cases for Listeria food poisoning victims and their families. “It is the responsibility of cheese processors to have a clean processing plant, test for Listeria contamination and prevent tainted cheese from getting into the hands of consumers.”
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is testing samples of the cheese and early results indicate presence of Listeria; confirmation is pending.
Health officials are warning consumers who may have purchased Crave Brothers Les Frères, Petit Frère and Petit Frère with Truffles not to eat it until more information becomes available from the investigation. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has advised grocery stores and distributors to pull and not sell the products until further information is available.
Listeria poisoning can lead to the following:
- Blood poisoning (Sepsis)
- Spinal infection and inflammation (Meningitis)
- Pregnant women at risk of miscarriage, stillbirth, baby born with listeriosis.
