A 4-month-old baby died after being injured in an accident between a school bus and a van in North Branch, Minnesota, according to North Branch Police. Although slick roads appear to be a factor in the crash, the investigation is ongoing to determine if bus driver negligence (speeding, distracted driving) was also a factor.
“It can be difficult to determine fault when bad weather and icy roads are a factor,” said Fred Pritzker. “In some cases, it is necessary to hire accident reconstruction specialists to determine what really happened.”
When officers got to the scene on April 18, they found the baby in the van, critically injured. The driver of the van was taken to Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, where he was treated and released.
