Attorney Fred Pritzker is representing several patients injured in the meningitis outbreak associated with epidural epidural steroid injections for back pain made by New England Compounding Center (NECC). Fred is one of the few attorneys in the nation who practices extensively in the areas of infectious disease and medical product liability lawsuits and has won millions for his clients, including over $40,000,000 for clients injured by one medical product. Fred and his Bad Bug Law Team are available for a free consultation to meningitis victims and their families and to patients who need to be tested (spinal tap) for meningitis.
There are three CDC-confirmed cases of fungal meningitis in Minnesota to date. Because of the long incubation period (as long as 42 day, and some medical experts think 3 months), we expect many more confirmed cases of meningitis, stroke, septic arthritis and other illnesses caused by fungus (Aspergillus and/or Exserohilum) in the steroid injection.
Hundreds of people in Minnesota had spinal injections with NECC steroids that may have been contaminated with fungus and now need to be tested. This involves a spinal tap and other tests, which are painful and expensive. In addition, these people are suffering from emotional distress as they have to wait to see if they have meningitis. Fred is representing several of these patients. You can contact Fred about compensation for a spinal tap and emotional distress here.
Three Minnesota clinics, all in the Twin Cities area, received the implicated NECC steroids:
- MAPS-Edina Medical Pain Clinic, Minneapolis, MN
- MAPS-Medical Advanced Pain, Fridley, MN
- Medical Advanced Pain Specialists (MAPS) in Shakopee, MN
- MAPS in Maple Grove, MN
- Minnesota Surgery Center, Edina, MN
- Minnesota Surgery Center, Maple Grove, MN
The Minnesota Department of Health is updating the Minnesota meningitis outbreak, and the CDC is updating the outbreak on a national level.
We do not think a class action is in the best interests of our clients and will be filing individual lawsuits. We believe our clients will get more money that way. Our primary concern is that the victims of this fungal contamination get the money they deserve.
