E. coli-HUS has claimed another life, this time a 73-year old male from Germantown, Ohio, who ate at a picnic at Neff’s Lawn Care. At least 74 other people were sickened after eating food at the picnic, including two children who also developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) from an E. coli O157 infection. Of the people sickened, 18 have confirmed cases of E. coli O157. Our attorneys are helping victims of this outbreak. Contact our E. coli lawyers for a free consultation regarding your legal rights.
Of this tragic death, Montgomery County Health Commissioner Jim Gross stated, “Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones. This is a very difficult time for everyone. You may rest assured that Public Health will continue to examine all aspects of this foodborne tragedy.”
No one should go to a picnic and die from the food, not here where we have the technology to test for dangerous pathogens like E. coli O157, which can be fatal, as was the case with this outbreak. E. coli food poisoning can also cause serious illness. We have had many clients who developed E. coli-HUS, gone into kidney failure and then had other organs fail or suffer severe damage.
Health officials with Dayton & Montgomery County have not determined the specific food that caused this outbreak, but victims of the outbreak may still have legal options.
