A tragic accident in California killed 10 people and seriously injured several others.
A FedEx truck crossed California Interstate 5 and hit a charter bus. The impact caused the vehicles to burst into flames. The dead include 5 students, the drivers of the bus and the truck, and 3 adults who were chaperones on the bus. Dozens of others were severely injured from both the impact and the ensuing fire. Several bus passengers were severely burned.
Eric Hageman, an attorney who has represented families in accident cases involving FedEx trucks, said “this is a tragedy of unimaginable proportions and the families of those impacted by this tragedy are going to need answers. It’s crucial that all of the evidence be preserved and that witness accounts of the crash be memorialized, so that we can somehow make sense of this tragedy.”
With the truck driver not surviving the crash, it will be more difficult to determine exactly what caused the FedEx accident.
“The first thing that needs to happen is the data on the FedEx truck black box needs to be thoroughly analyzed,” said Fred Pritzker, an attorney who represents clients and families in personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits. Fred has represented clients in lawsuits against FedEx. “FedEx corporate files also need to be obtained and gone over with a fine-tooth comb.”
The bus passengers were high school seniors and adult chaperones who were on their way to visit Humboldt State University in Arcata, California.
