A toaster waffle Listeria recall that includes waffles sold at ALDI, Giant, Giant Eagle, Kroger, PriceChopper, Publix, Schnucks, Target, Tops, Walmart, Winn Dixie, and other stores has been expanded. On October 18, TreeHouse Foods of Oakbrook, IL issued the recall that included more than a dozen brands distributed to stores in the U.S. and Canada. With the expansion, the recall includes all waffles produced at the Oakbrook facility.

Consumers who have recently purchased toaster waffles should carefully check the recall information as Listeria can cause severe illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.
Symptoms of a Listeria Infection
Symptoms of a Listeria infection, called listeriosis, usually develop within 24 hours of exposure but sometimes they can take as long as 70 days to appear. They include –
- Severe headache
- Stiff neck
- Muscle aches
- Upset stomach or diarrhea
- Loss of balance, confusion, or convulsions
Pregnant women can experience a miscarriage or stillbirth even if they experience only mild flu-like symptoms.
