A house explosion in Waxahachie, Texas, sent Danny and Debbie Holvick to the hospital with burn injuries early Friday morning. Ellis County fire investigators suspect that propane gas caused the Holvicks’ house on Ike Road to explode.
When first responders arrived at the scene around 2 am Friday, a neighbor had rescued the Holvicks from the debris. The couple, both in their 70s, are in stable condition at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Danny Holvick suffered burns to 40% of his body, along with a broken shoulder blade, and a fractured back. Debbie Holvick also suffered burns and experienced a minor heart attack when the house exploded.
Sadly, the Holvicks lost their beloved dog Punkin and most of their belongings in the house explosion. Family members created a GoFundMe page for the community to help support the Holvicks while they heal from this tragedy. Their son Gary told CBS News, “When you look at the house you don’t know how anybody walked away from it, or was carried out of or anything you wouldn’t expect them to survive that.”

Fire investigators are working to determine the ignition source in the Waxahachie house explosion, where propane gas is suspected as the cause.
Propane explosions can cause severe burn injuries and even death. If your family was affected by a propane house explosion, an experienced explosion lawyer will begin a cause and origin investigation to lay the groundwork for suing the wrongdoers who caused you harm, which may include:
- The propane company that was responsible for installing, filling, or servicing the propane tank before the house explosion.
- The appliance manufacturer if a defective gas appliance such as a stove, furnace, or water heater caused the house explosion.
- The propane tank manufacturer if a defective propane tank caused the house explosion.
- Other third-party entities whose negligence contributed to the house explosion.
