Updated September 22 with recall expansion Life Raft Treats of North Charleston, SC has expanded an ice cream Listeria recall that includes two flavors, Life is Peachy, and Not Fried Chicken. Consumers who have purchased this ice cream should not eat it as Listeria can cause severe illness and death. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.
The company issued the initial recall on September 6 after tests performed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) found Listeria in a sample of Not Fried Chicken ice cream. The recall was expanded on September 19, to include an additional lot of Not Fried Chicken and included Life is Peachy because they were manufactured in the same room.
Life Raft Ice Cream Listeria Recall
The recall includes three products with “best by” dates up to and including AUG 08282024 They are:
- Life is Peachy treats sold in 6-count packages
- Not Fried Chicken ice cream sold in 64-oz buckets
- Not Fried Chicken 2.5-0z bars with the UPC 8 60006 18210 6

Listeria Symptoms
Symptoms of a Listeria infection include severe headache, high fever, stiff neck and other muscle stiffness, confusion, loss of balance, and gastrointestinal symptoms. These symptoms can appear within 24 hours of exposure but sometimes they can take as long as 70 days to develop. Pregnant women can suffer miscarriages and stillbirths even if they only suffer mild flu-like symptoms.
