Updated 6/29 with more recalled products SunOpta Grains and Foods Inc. of Eden Prairie, MN has issued a Listeria recall for 32,400 pounds of organic pineapple chunks. The recall was issued on May 19 and classified on June 1 is ongoing.
The recalled pineapple was sold in 30 lb. poly-lined boxes. Recalled lot numbers include:

On June 22, a SunOpta subsidiary issued a recall for frozen fruit sold under store brand names at Wholes Foods, Target, Walmart, ALDI. AWG, and Trader Joe’s.
On June 29, Townsend Farms issued a Listeria recall for mango chunks and fruit medleys containing mango supplied by SunOpta subsidiary, Sunrise Growers.
Listeria Symptoms
Symptoms of a Listeria infection include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, muscle aches, nausea, diarrhea, confusion, and loss of balance. Usually, these symptoms develop within 24 hours of exposure, but it can sometimes take as long as 70 days for them to appear. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage and stillbirths.

2016 Sunflower Seed Recall
In 2016, SunOpta issued a major recall for sunflower seeds produced at its plant in Crookston, MN. The recalled seeds were sold under several brand names including Sunrich, Spitz, Kar’s, Planters, and Navitas. They were also used to make deli salads sold at Trader Joe’s, Kroger, Giant Eagle, Market District, and other grocery stores. In total, products containing the recalled seeds were sold in 28 states. One company reported two possible illnesses associated with its products.
2017 Dark Sweet Cherry Recall
In 2017, Great Value Organic Dark Sweet Pitted Cherry products sold at Walmart stores in Louisiana and Mississippi were recalled for Listeria. The cherries were distributed by SunOpta’s subsidiary, Sunrise Growers, Inc.
