Magnolia Provision Beef Jerky Listeria Recall

Magnolia Provision Company Inc. of Knoxville has issued a beef jerky Listeria recall, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). On September 6, Magnolia Provision issued the recall for Chop House Styles Prime Rib Flavored Beef Jerky after samples tested by a third-party were positive for Listeria.

The recalled beef jerky was sold at retail locations nationwide. Consumers who have purchased this product should not eat it as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Listeria infections can cause miscarriage and stillbirth among pregnant women.

The recalled jerky, produced on August 25, 2022, was sold in three sizes all with expiration dates of August 25, 2023. The 2-oz., 8-oz., and 16-oz. packages were labeled “BEEF JERKY EXPERIENCE CHOP HOUSE STYLE PRIME RIB FLAVORED BEEF JERKY.” The establishment number “EST. 8091” was marked inside the USDA mark of inspection.

At the time of the recall, the company said it was unaware of any illnesses associated with the product. However, symptoms of a Listeria infection can take as long as 70 days to develop. These symptoms include severe headache, stiff neck, other muscle stiffness, high fever, confusion, and loss of balance. Anyone who ate the recalled product who develops these symptoms should see a doctor right away.
