On August 30, Connoisseur’s Kitchen, of Surrey, British Columbia issued the recall for the Spice Mantra products after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency notified the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foods Safety and SInspcetion Service (FSIS) that the products made in Canada were sold in the U.S. The Spice Mantra Listeria recall includes the following products with the lot code lot 220803-400US.
- Spice Mantra Chicken Korma, 2-lb. box packages
- Spice Mantra Butter Chicken, 2-lb. box packages
Symptoms of a Listeria infection include high fever, stiff neck, muscle aches, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. Sometimes those symptoms are preceded by gastrointestinal symptoms. At the time of the recall, the company said it was not aware of any illnesses associated with the products, but symptoms of a Listeria infection can take as long as 70 days to develop.
