An Iowa farmer died in a crash when a semi struck his tractor in Mitchell County. James “Jim” Duponcheele (62) of Stacyville was driving a John Deere tractor to a friend’s house when a semi-truck struck him from behind. The crash happened on Friday at about 8:00 AM on T40, about half a mile south of 450th Street.
A semi driven by Brandon Wendt of Mankato, MN was traveling south on Monument Avenue when he attempted to overtake Duponcheele’s tractor. At the time of the crash, Duponcheele was attempting to take a left turn into a driveway when the semi rear-ended his tractor.
Duponcheele is survived by his mother and four sisters. One of his sisters told ABC 6 News that he was a kind man who “put everything into the farm where he lived.”
